Tooth Whitening: Brilliant Smiles
Tooth whitening is a simple, safe, and effective process that lightens the teeth and gives you a brighter smile. At your first visit, we will take impressions of your teeth so that we can fabricate a customized tray to fit over your teeth. At the second appointment, you will be given a kit with instructions on how to effectively use the system. Within two weeks, there will be a dramatic difference in the colour of your teeth. These products are FDA approved and safe to use under dentist supervision.
Preventative Maintenance
To assist in the prevention of gum disease and tooth decay, regular professional dental cleanings are performed by a registered dental hygienist. Plaque and tartar can cause tooth decay and gum disease. Your hygienist will remove these substances, as well as polish and remove stains from your teeth. The hygienist ensures that your smile receives the regular attention it deserves.
Dental Implants
A small titanium screw, dental implants are placed into the jaw bone in areas of missing teeth to support crowns, bridges, or dentures. Implants replace missing teeth while preserving bone.
Root Canal
When the area of the tooth containing the nerves and blood supply becomes damaged or infected, you may experience severe pain, extreme sensitivity to hot or cold, a change in the colour of the tooth, or swelling in the area. A root canal can alleviate your symptoms and save the tooth.
Cosmetic Composite Filling
Composite bonding can improve the appearance of chipped, broken, cracked, or stained teeth and spaces between teeth. A thin layer of tooth-coloured composite resin is applied to restore chips and cracks, fill in gaps, or cover stains. Bonding material comes in many colours, so it is possible to match the shade of your teeth. The procedure takes one to two hours and the bonding lasts a long time.
Dentures
Full and partial dentures replace missing teeth both aesthetically and functionally, providing support and restoring the smile. Full dentures are used when all of the natural teeth have been lost, while partial dentures fill in the gaps between natural teeth.
Crowns & Bridges
When teeth are heavily restored with filling material or have had root canal treatment, they become weak and brittle and are likely to fracture. This creates a risk that a fracture line may go below the margin of the gum, which makes restoration more difficult or near impossible. By placing a crown over this weakened tooth, it can survive for many more years. When a single tooth is lost, a denture may not be required. Instead, a bridge can be made that spans the gap with a tooth attached to those next to the space.
Crowns may be made from several different materials, gold and porcelain being the most common types. Some porcelain crowns have metal inside, which gives them strength and supports the porcelain. We can replace large, worn-out fillings with all-porcelain crowns. These state-of-the-art, high strength, metal-free crowns will restore dark teeth and eliminate lines at the gum line to provide a completely natural-looking appearance.
Electronic Insurance Claims
We will submit your claims directly to your insurance company, which eliminates paperwork and the need to wait long periods of time for reimbursement. We offer estimates for treatment plans and prescribed services before treatment commences. We also assist our patients in securing information on insurance coverage and financial payment arrangements when applicable.
Porcelain Veneers
Very thin porcelain restorations that are bonded to the front of the anterior teeth, veneers are a fantastic way to repair or enhance the appearance of front teeth. Used to whiten teeth and close spaces, they are very strong, with life-like appearance. They can make crowded or crooked teeth appear straight.
Veneers have many advantages over traditional porcelain fused-to-metal crowns. No tell-tale “dark line” can be seen at the gum line. Veneers transmit light better, creating a more translucent, natural appearance. They require either a minimal reduction of tooth structure or, sometimes, almost none at all.
Sealants
Sealants are plastic coatings that are easily applied to the back teeth (usually in children and adolescents) to help prevent cavities. Not all teeth need to be sealed. The dentist will determine the need for sealants at the check-up appointment and a separate appointment is needed to apply the sealants.
Periodontal Services
Bacteria normally found in the mouth can cause periodontal (or gum) disease, resulting in tooth loss. These bacteria live off the supporting structures of the teeth, such as bone. As the bacteria eat away at the structures that support the teeth in your jaw, these teeth can loosen and even eventually fall out completely. Periodontal disease rarely causes any pain until it is in the most advanced and serious stages, at which time the condition may be too late to reverse.
When left untreated, gum disease can lead to numerous health issues and can permanently mar your smile. Gum disease can often be controlled by daily flossing, brushing, and regular cleanings. In our office, the dentist will check your gums and, if necessary, a certified periodontist on our staff will treat more advanced cases of periodontal disease.
Pediatric Dentistry
We are often asked, ”How important are baby teeth?” The answer is: VERY IMPORTANT! The baby, or deciduous teeth hold the places for developing adult teeth. Premature loss of a primary tooth can result in crowding of adult teeth or even an adult tooth being blocked from coming in properly or at all. The primary teeth can get decayed, which can lead to infection, which can affect the developing adult teeth.
Certain types of orthodontic problems can be detected early. Sometimes minor treatment can prevent more complicated treatment later on. A child with a healthy smile has confidence, which can be helpful socially
